A.A.Murakami’s creative collaboration with Iris Van Herpen resulted in a piece of wearable tech that organically extends its own boundaries through the emergence of floating bubbles from its surface.
Concealed within the dress are bubble producing mechanisms that sync with a helium supply, carefully programmed to create a consistent ejection of bubbles, running autonomously without intervention.
One of the big challenges with this technology was ensuring it was capable of responding to the aesthetic brief whilst being small enough to hide within the dress, and light enough to be carried by its wearer, Olympian Eileen Gu. Both of these details were satisfied, underpinning a visual experience that became one of the most talked about appearances at the global fashion industry’s most prestigious event.
