London artist group Based Upon conceived a body of work centering on the breath, as a symbolic concept and rhythmic anchor for an immersive, cross disciplinary work.

Inis Oirr used wireless sensors to transmit live breath data from performers to three wall mounted sculptures, influencing hidden mechanisms which caused fluctuating movements on their surfaces. The relationship between the human body and new technology was central to this specially curated live performance at Masterpiece Art Fair in London.

A.R.T produced bespoke, battery powered sensors that analysed the expanding movement of the performance artists chests, sending the data via bluetooth. Silent robotics hidden behind the surface of the art mirrored the breathing motion.
